Shannon Lin is a Fellow of Dietitians Australia (FDA), an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and Credentialled Diabetes Educator with almost 20 years of experience and fluent in Mandarin.

Shannon has extensive experience with all types of diabetes including Type 1, Type 1 on pumps, Type 2 and Gestational diabetes.

She strongly believes in a person-centred approach and is passionate about helping people from non-English speaking and Indigenous backgrounds. Shannon completed her PhD in diabetes education and health literacy to advocate for culturally appropriate diabetes education for those groups.

Shannon has been named a Fellow of Dietitians Australia (FDA), the highest Honor in the Australian dietetic profession. This recognition reflects years of dedication to advancing diabetes care and education.

Shannon is the current NSW Branch Chair, Australian Diabetes Educators Association, and editor and reviewer for well-recognised journals including Australian Diabetes Educator. Meanwhile, she has very strong collaboration in the Asia Pacific region. In 2021, she was awarded the ‘most influential international diabetes educator’ and the ‘most popular diabetes column writer’ in China. 

Shannon is the Diabetes Course director and lecturer at University of Technology Sydney, while providing outreach clinical services in western and south NSW. She previously worked for Diabetes NSW and ACT and the diabetes clinic at the Aboriginal Medical Service Redfern.
